上流の利賀・五箇山から運ばれてきた木材は、かつて庄川に集められた。その豊富な木材を使ってろくろを回し始めたのが庄川挽物木地の始まり。横木板を材料に使うのが特徴。
Shogawa Grind
Wood brought from upstream was once collected in the Shogawa River. The Shogawa grind began when people started turning potter’s wheels using this wood. The use of horizontal wooden planks as material is a characteristic of this craft.
